This project, an A to Z of robots from movies, games and graphic novels, was designed as a series of unique posters that could be presented individually or together as a single, larger piece. I made it a challenge to come up with a selection of layouts and designs, that although different from one another, would still maintain enough unity to feel like a coherent whole.
Each poster started life in Photoshop with the assembly of the robot, often combining several source images, moving limbs around, and drawing in missing sections. The image was then imported to Illustrator, where it was vectorised, and the subsequent paths tidied up and recoloured. At this stage all the other components were added as vector elements, and the text written, before a single photographic texture was added to provide the dirt, noise and warmth.
